Rockstar Games GTA 6 Features: 5 Changes to Watch

Gta 6 New Feature Imag

In Grand Theft Auto V, you could carry enough weapons to equip a small army, survive spectacular car crashes, and have the police forget about you simply by hiding somewhere for a few minutes.

Wonderful fun, certainly. Realistic? About as realistic as a flying motorcycle equipped with missiles.

But Grand Theft Auto VI appears to be heading in a somewhat different direction.

Rockstar has already shown how believable its worlds can be with Red Dead Redemption 2. Now imagine taking some of those ideas and dropping them into modern-day Vice City, complete with expensive sports cars, crowded beaches, and criminals making increasingly questionable decisions.

Several intriguing gameplay changes have been discussed online, although many remain unconfirmed.

And some of them could fundamentally change how we play GTA.

1. GTA 6 Might Finally Limit How Many Weapons You Carry

Remember GTA 5’s weapon wheel?

Michael, Franklin, and Trevor could carry an absurd collection of firearms and explosives without so much as developing a backache.

Apparently, their trousers contained an entire military warehouse.

GTA 6 might be considerably less generous.

Early development footage and fan speculation suggest Rockstar has explored a more restrictive inventory system, potentially limiting how many weapons characters can carry at once.

Additional equipment could be stored in vehicles, much like Arthur Morgan kept spare weapons on his horse in Red Dead Redemption 2.

It’s an interesting possibility.

Instead of having every weapon available whenever trouble starts, players might need to think about their equipment beforehand.

Of course, Rockstar hasn’t confirmed the final weapon limits or vehicle storage mechanics.

But if implemented properly, such a system could make encounters more interesting without sacrificing the ridiculous fun GTA is famous for.

2. Movement and Combat Could Become More Tactical

GTA 5’s combat was enjoyable, but its movement system could feel rather basic.

Take cover, aim, shoot, repeat.

Rumors suggest Rockstar has experimented with more flexible movement in GTA 6, including crawling, prone positions, and switching shoulders while aiming.

Online discussions also mention improved character reactions and a possible slow-motion targeting ability.

That last feature sounds suspiciously reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2’s Dead Eye system.

Would it work in modern Vice City?

Possibly, although I imagine slowing down time during a police pursuit might make an already chaotic situation even more entertaining.

The important distinction is that experimental mechanics seen in development material aren’t guaranteed to make it into the finished game.

Still, more responsive movement would be a welcome improvement.

3. Police Might Actually Behave Like Police

Here’s something that has always amused me about GTA.

You commit a crime in the middle of nowhere, with no witnesses, no cameras, and apparently nobody within several miles.

Five seconds later, half the police department knows exactly where you are.

Impressive detective work, gentlemen.

GTA 6 could improve this with more sophisticated witness and search systems.

Online claims describe bystanders reporting crimes, security cameras detecting suspicious activity, and officers searching for suspects based on descriptions.

Some rumors even suggest changing vehicles or clothing might influence whether the police recognize you.

That would make escaping pursuit considerably more interesting than simply driving quickly enough.

But these specific systems, including clothing-based identification, remain unconfirmed as final gameplay features.

Rockstar has an excellent opportunity to make police encounters more believable. Whether it delivers these particular mechanics is another question entirely.

4. Jason and Lucia Could Change How Missions Work

Perhaps the most interesting confirmed change is GTA 6’s central pair of protagonists.

Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos aren’t merely two unrelated criminals wandering around the same city.

Their partnership is central to the story.

And that opens up some fascinating gameplay possibilities.

Imagine one character driving while the other keeps the police at bay, or both working together during an elaborate robbery.

Rumors suggest players might assign tasks to their partner, coordinate actions, or receive assistance during missions.

Rockstar hasn’t confirmed those specific commands.

Nevertheless, a well-designed two-character system could offer something genuinely different from GTA 5’s three-protagonist structure.

It’s not necessarily about having more playable characters.

It’s about making the relationship between them matter.

5. Driving, Weather, and Smartphones Could Feel More Natural

Vice City wouldn’t be much of a playground without cars.

And GTA 6’s trailers have already showcased a world full of vehicles, busy roads, and atmospheric environments.

Fans expect improved vehicle handling, more convincing weather effects, and detailed environmental interactions.

Some speculation goes further, suggesting heavy rainfall could affect traction or create localized flooding.

Others expect characters to be able to use their smartphones while walking around, potentially browsing social media or accessing entertainment.

All interesting ideas.

But features such as weather-dependent driving physics, fully interactive phones, and podcasts you can listen to in-game shouldn’t be treated as confirmed.

What matters is whether these systems make the world feel more alive.

After all, a spectacularly detailed city means little if interacting with it remains disappointingly shallow.

Final Thoughts

GTA 6 doesn’t need to transform itself into a hardcore survival simulator.

Nobody buys Grand Theft Auto because they’re desperate to obey traffic regulations and maintain a sensible inventory.

But a little more realism, implemented intelligently, could make its chaotic world considerably more entertaining.

Smarter police, believable characters, improved movement, and meaningful cooperation between Jason and Lucia all have enormous potential.

Whether every rumored mechanic makes the final cut remains uncertain.

Personally, I’d rather have five brilliantly executed features than fifty ambitious ideas that barely work.

And if Rockstar gets the balance right, Vice City could become the kind of fictional world players spend years exploring.
